Living Our Faith
St. Brendan creates an ideal atmosphere for children to flourish in their faith. We are committed to nurturing each child's understanding and adoration of Jesus, fostering strong values and integrity, and inspiring a life dedicated to Christian service. We encourage our students to embrace God's presence in their daily experiences. We serve children of various faith beliefs.
Prayer is an integral part of our day. Every school day begins and ends with prayer. Students also pray before classes and meals and are encouraged to silently turn to God in gratitude and need throughout the day. Religion classes are held daily in all grade levels. Our religion curriculum begins by introducing students to the gifts God has provided. As they get older, they learn more about the sacraments, prayer, ministry, Scripture, the life of Jesus, and our Catholic beliefs and traditions. Students in 2nd grade prepare for and celebrate the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
Our students are blessed to feel the love of Jesus through daily prayer, weekly Masses, religious retreats, praying the rosary, and special seasonal events such as the re-enactment of the birth of Jesus and Living Stations. The weekly school Mass provides our students opportunities to prepare and present the readings, petitions, gifts, and music for our liturgies.
We understand that when you are little, you may not understand what is happening during Mass. To meet the needs of our youngest students, we offer the Buddy System, in which we partner upper class students with Pre-K4, kindergarten and first grade boys and girls. Older students act as mentors, helping younger students focus on and follow the Mass. Their special relationships continue to grow as they participate in school activities together and see each other around campus. The program benefits older students by teaching them leadership skills.
Our faith-filled faculty and staff foster each child’s special relationship with Jesus by emulating His teachings in their daily lessons. Our children are fully immersed in the faith just by walking through our gates. Religious statues, images, and photographs, as well as prayer gardens and corners, can be found throughout the campus, to serve as reminders of living our faith.
We believe that it is in sharing our gifts with others that we truly show gratitude to God. Throughout the year, your child will have many opportunities to share his/her gifts of time, talent, and treasure in service to others.
