Team Tennis Opportunity

St. Brendan Tennis Team has been invited to play against St. James Tennis Team on Wednesday, May 21st @ 3:30. Match will be held at the Ormond Tennis Center on Granada Blvd. Wear your team shirt and a black/navy short with pockets or tennis skirt. I need to know who is available and interested in this. The Volusia Catholic Sports League is forming a tennis league for next year. This is our opportunity to have a say in how it will be done.

For the St. James matchup, we will have boys vs. boys, and girls vs. girls. They admit that their team is very new and inexperienced. This is a friendly match. Please let me know as soon as possible. We need at least 8 kids to make this match happen. Parents--if you have any questions, please feel free to email or call me 931-5896.

TENNIS TEAM INFORMATION

St. Brendan’s Spring 2008 TENNIS TEAM INFORMATION Grades 5-8

Divisions: 12 & under Novice, Intermediate

14 & under Novice, Intermediate

18 & under Novice, Intermediate

Divisions may be combined if necessary.

PRACTICES:

Tuesday or Thursday’s 3:00 - 4:15 Bring racquet, tennis shoes, WATER, and hat/visor

Each team will have 6 players. Each team will play 2 singles/ 2 doubles.

MATCHES:

Match Dates: Begins February 22^nd

Location: Florida Tennis Center on LPGA Blvd.

All matches will either be at 5:00 or 6:30 - Schedule is forthcoming

Players must arrive at the courts at least 15 minutes before their match

Each team will play 2 singles/2 doubles

The Team line-up will be made at team practice.

Uniforms: I request that the players wear blue or black shorts or tennis skirts. Shorts MUST HAVE POCKETS. Girls may wear a ball clip. I also suggest a cap or visor. We will be ordering team shirts and sweatshirts this season.

COURT MONITORS: Please let me know if you would be interested in being a court monitor for our novice teams. You DO GET VOLUNTEER TIME. You will need to be courtside to help with scoring and some rulings. I will share the common rulings they will encounter. Contact Michelle Willis 386-931-5896 or mpollio@mac.com

COST: $36 - ($23 league fee and $13 to cover trophies, etc.)

All players must be USTA members. To become a USTA member, go to www.usta.com/membership Cost is $18 for USTA membership per year.

Requirement to play: Must have physical on file for 2007-2008 school year. Must have good academic record. Must know how to keep score in tennis. Must be able to get 50% of serves in.
